The Alpine Endurance Team has unveiled the updated design of its A424 Hypercar, anticipating its participation in the 2025 season of the World Endurance Championship. The French team, which finished the 2024 season in fourth place in the manufacturers' championship, aims to improve its performance after a year marked by mixed results and reliability issues.
2024 Season Overview
During the past campaign, Alpine competed in the Hypercar category with two units of the A424. Car #35 was driven by Paul-Loup Chatin, Jules Gounon, and Charles Milesi, while #36 was in the hands of Nicolas Lapierre, Mick Schumacher, and Matthieu Vaxiviere. Throughout the year, the team faced various difficulties, although it achieved some positive results.
One of the most relevant moments came at the 6 Hours of Fuji, where car #36 secured the team's first podium of the season after climbing from the 15th position on the starting grid. At Lone Star Le Mans, held at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), car #35 achieved its best classification of the year by finishing in fifth place, while #36 also scored points with an eighth-place finish.
However, the 24 Hours of Le Mans proved to be a major setback for the team. Both cars suffered mechanical issues that prevented them from finishing the race, affecting their standing in the championship. The lack of consistent performance was an obstacle in the fight for better positions throughout the season.
Preparation for the 2025 Season
With the experience gained in 2024, Alpine aims to strengthen its endurance racing program for the upcoming campaign. The new look of the A424 marks the beginning of a phase in which the team seeks to establish itself against its competitors, such as Toyota, Porsche, and Ferrari. The team is expected to announce its 2025 driver lineup on February 5
