Yohan Rossel kicked off the 2025 WRC2 season with a remarkable result, taking first place at the Rally de Montecarlo. Driving the Citroën C3 Rally2, alongside co-driver Arnaud Dunand, Rossel led throughout the event and finished with a two-minute advantage over the second-placed driver.

A year ago, Rossel narrowly defeated Pepe López by 4.0 seconds. This time, he delivered a strong performance, winning 15 of the 17 special stages. This success allowed PH Sport to position its three drivers at the top: Léo Rossel, Yohan's younger brother, claimed first place in the WRC2 Challenger category, while Eric Camilli secured second overall in that class.

In his statements after the event, Yohan Rossel thanked the team, emphasizing that the result was due to joint efforts, from tire selection to decisions made during the rally.

Meanwhile, Jan Černý and Roberto Daprà battled for fourth place. Černý, also driving a Citroën C3 Rally2, started the final day with a 7.3-second lead over Daprà, which he extended to 26.9 seconds by the end. Meanwhile, Pablo Sarrazin, making his debut in the category, achieved sixth place. Charles Munster, Maxime Potty, Sarah Rumeau, and Filip Kohn rounded out the top ten.

Oliver Solberg penalized for prohibited maneuvers

Oliver Solberg received a five-minute penalty for performing "exhibition" maneuvers on a road section at the Fairmont Hairpin after the final podium. The driver was caught drifting in front of spectators. Although he apologized, the authorities deemed these actions a safety risk.

The supplementary regulations for the Rally de Montecarlo strictly prohibit such maneuvers in unauthorized areas. Solberg, making his debut with the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, finished sixth in the Rally2 category and thirteenth overall.
