24 Hours of Daytona 2025: Race Recap after 7 hours

With 17 hours remaining in the 63rd edition of the 24 Hours of Daytona, teams are managing pace and strategies to stay in contention. Here are the most relevant events so far:

GTP Category

The #40 Cadillac of Wayne Taylor Racing leads with 229 laps completed, with Louis Deletraz at the wheel. Kamui Kobayashi set the team’s fastest lap on lap 151 (1:36.579). The #24 BMW from BMW M Team RLL, driven by Raffaele Marciello, is just 1.789 seconds behind the leader. The #31 Cadillac of Whelen rounds out the provisional podium, 11 seconds off the lead. The #7 Porsche and #60 Acura remain in contention, although with larger gaps.

LMP2 Category

The #04 Oreca of Crowdstrike Racing, with Malthe Jakobsen at the wheel, leads after completing 223 laps. The #88 Oreca from Af Corse closely follows, just 2.358 seconds behind. The #22 from United Autosports, driven by Paul Di Resta, is in third, 9.374 seconds off the leader. Other teams, such as the #8 and #2 Oreca, are battling in the mid-pack positions.

GTD PRO Category

The #1 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, driven by Kelvin van der Linde, leads with 215 laps completed and a best time of 1:47.899. The #4 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, driven by Tommy Milner, is in second place, 1.824 seconds behind. The #9 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2, driven by Jordan Pepper, is in third, 11.101 seconds off the leader.

GTD Category

The #120 Porsche 911 GT3 R, driven by Tom Sargent, leads with 215 laps completed and a best time of 1:48.083. The #27 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo, piloted by Mattia Drudi, is in second place, one lap behind the leader. The #96 BMW M4 GT3 EVO from Turner Motorsport, driven by Patrick Gallagher, and the #32 Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Daniel Morad round out the top positions. Other notable teams include the #78 Lamborghini Huracán, driven by Franck Perera, and the #34 Ferrari 296 GT3 of Daniel Serra.

Withdrawals and Issues

The #63 Lamborghini SC63, driven by Mirko Bortolotti, retired after completing just 34 laps due to mechanical issues. The #11 Oreca from TDS Racing has fallen far behind, completing only 140 laps. In GTD, the #75 Mercedes-AMG GT3 and the #44 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo have suffered delays, falling more than 50 laps behind the leader in their category.
