Michelin has renewed its commitment to the World Endurance Championship as the exclusive tire supplier for the Hypercar category until at least 2029. This agreement strengthens the relationship established since the championship's inception in 2012.
History of excellence in endurance racing
Michelin's role in endurance racing dates back to 1923, when a Chenard & Walcker car equipped with its tires won the inaugural edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Since 1998, Michelin has excelled in this prestigious competition, showcasing the quality of its products in highly demanding scenarios.
Throughout its partnership with the WEC, Michelin has consistently demonstrated its capacity for continuous innovation, adapting to the needs of manufacturers and teams in a category that demands maximum performance and durability.
Manufacturers in the Hypercar category in 2025
The 2025 season will feature at least eight major manufacturers in the Hypercar category: Alpine, Aston Martin, BMW, Cadillac, Ferrari, Peugeot, Porsche, and Toyota. All will compete with Michelin tires.
The calendar for the upcoming season will kick off with the 1812 km race in Qatar, scheduled for February 28, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the championship.
Frédéric Lequien, CEO of the FIA WEC, expressed his satisfaction with the extension of the agreement:
"This long-term commitment lays the foundation for the championship's continued development. Michelin tires have been crucial to the spectacle we've witnessed, while also reflecting a sustainable approach aligned with the future of our sport."
Meanwhile, Pierre Fillon, president of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, emphasized the importance of this collaboration:
"Michelin is an exemplary partner and a benchmark in innovation. Its approach to sustainable development and the quality of its tires reinforce our confidence in this extended partnership."
Matthieu Bonardel, director of Michelin Motorsport, commented on the company's alignment with the values of the FIA WEC:
"Endurance racing is an ideal field to demonstrate our commitment to sustainability and innovation. In 2025, we will introduce a new generation of MICHELIN Pilot Sport tires, with increased use of renewable and recycled materials, reaffirming our commitment to the environment and performance."
