Heart of Racing Team has decided to adjust its lineup for the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, withdrawing from the GTD Pro category and focusing its efforts on a new Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH prototype for the GTP class. Additionally, the team will maintain its participation in the GTD category with the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo number 27.
Ian James, team leader, mentioned that the decision to leave GTD Pro is due to the need to maximize resources for the GTP program. Over its three seasons in GTD Pro, Heart of Racing achieved several notable victories with Ross Gunn and Alex Riberas, including wins at Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen, Lime Rock Park, Road America, and Long Beach. However, the demands of the GTP class require the team's full attention.
Remaining in GTD is considered essential for the team's development, as it will serve as a platform for learning and training new talent before transitioning to the GTP program. "The GTD category complements our GTP project, and it provides an ideal environment for our team's development. This week we remain focused on winning the GTD Pro title with the number 23 car, and once the season is over, our full attention will be on 2025," James commented.
With this restructuring, Heart of Racing is preparing for a greater challenge in the GTP class with the Valkyrie AMR-LMH, while maintaining the GTD category as a ground to train and strengthen the team's talent. This shift will allow them to balance their competitive ambitions with the continuous development of the team, ensuring a solid foundation for the future.
