Lando Norris led the Singapore Grand Prix qualifying session, securing pole position with a time of 1m29.525s, beating Max Verstappen, who was 0.203 seconds behind. The session was temporarily halted due to a crash by Carlos Sainz, affecting the rhythm of several drivers, including Verstappen, whose fast lap was invalidated.

Sainz's crash occurred at turn 17, where he lost control of his Ferrari, hitting the wall. The resulting red flag paused the session when several drivers were on fast laps, altering their strategies.

McLaren and Mercedes strong in the second half of qualifying

After the session resumed, Norris seized the opportunity and set a time of 1m29.525s, securing pole. Max Verstappen tried to recover, but finished second with a time of 1m29.728s. Mercedes showed solid performance, with Lewis Hamilton and George Russell taking third and fourth places, respectively, putting both drivers on the second row.

Oscar Piastri, who had provisionally led, ended up in fifth place, while Nico Hulkenberg surprised by taking sixth for Haas.

Ferrari outside the top 5 after a tough session

Ferrari had a challenging day. Charles Leclerc's time was invalidated, leaving him in ninth, while Carlos Sainz, after his crash, could not improve and will start from tenth. The Italian team will have to work hard to regain positions during the race.

Fernando Alonso and Yuki Tsunoda placed in the fourth row, taking seventh and eighth places, respectively. Williams also had mixed results, with Alex Albon finishing 11th, just 0.024 seconds short of entering Q3.

Perez and other favorites struggle

Sergio Perez could not improve beyond 13th place, while Daniel Ricciardo and Lance Stroll were eliminated in Q1, both finishing behind Esteban Ocon, who ended up in 15th position. Pierre Gasly also struggled, finishing 19th, just ahead of Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu, who closed out the standings.
