Introduction of the Circuits

Formula 1 and the FIA have announced the circuits that will host the Sprint events in the 2025 season. This year, marking the 75th anniversary of the Formula 1 World Championship, six circuits have been selected for the 100 km Sprints.

Circuits and Dates

In 2025, São Paulo will continue its tradition of hosting the Sprint every year since 2021. Belgium will return after its last participation in 2023. Shanghai and Miami will repeat for the second consecutive year, while Austin and Qatar will host the event for the third time.

Popularity of the Sprint Format

Since its debut in 2021, the Sprint format has been well received, significantly increasing audience numbers in both traditional broadcasts and digital platforms. In 2024, live audiences for Sprint Qualifying and the Sprint race at the Chinese Grand Prix increased by 40% across the top 15 markets compared to the practice sessions for the first two races.

The Sprint event in Miami attracted 946,000 viewers on ESPN, the largest US audience since the format was introduced. In Austria, live viewership for Sprint Qualifying increased by 76% compared to FP2 sessions in the last two European races. Additionally, the 2023 season showed notable increases in viewership with the introduction of new Sprint events in Azerbaijan and Belgium.
