Max Verstappen secured pole position for the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix, dominating the qualifying session at the Red Bull Ring circuit in Spielberg. The Red Bull driver showed impressive pace, surpassing his closest competitors, Lando Norris and George Russell.

Verstappen started strong from Q1, leading the timesheets comfortably. In Q2, he maintained his dominance, setting significantly faster times than the rest of the field. In the final Q3 session, Verstappen set a time of 1m04s314, securing pole position with a four-tenths advantage over Norris.

Lando Norris was Verstappen's closest rival, securing the second fastest time with 1m04s718. George Russell, driving for Mercedes, took third place with a time of 1m04s786, benefiting from Oscar Piastri's lap time being deleted for exceeding track limits at turn 6.

Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton completed the top five, while Charles Leclerc had a problematic final lap, finishing sixth. Oscar Piastri, with his lap time deleted, placed seventh.

Sergio Pérez, in the other Red Bull, advanced to Q3 and finished eighth with a time of 1m05s202, followed by Nico Hulkenberg and Esteban Ocon.

Daniel Ricciardo improved his performance from Friday, finishing 11th, followed by Kevin Magnussen and Pierre Gasly. Fernando Alonso had a disappointing session, finishing 15th after barely making it out of Q1.

Alex Albon, Lance Stroll, Valtteri Bottas, Logan Sargeant, and Zhou Guanyu completed the last positions on the grid, with less than eight-tenths of a second separating the 20 drivers in Q1.
