The BWT Alpine F1 team and Esteban Ocon have decided not to renew the French driver's contract at the end of the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship season. This decision marks the end of a five-year collaboration, during which they achieved significant milestones, such as Alpine's first victory at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix.
During this period, Ocon also secured two additional podiums: the first at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix, where he finished second, and a third place at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix. In the 2022 season, Ocon finished eighth in the Drivers' Championship, contributing to the team's fourth place in the Constructors' Championship.
The team is committed to working intensively with Ocon for the remainder of the 2024 season and wishes him success in his future projects. The driver lineup for the 2025 season will be announced later.
Esteban Ocon expressed his gratitude towards the team, highlighting that his professional career began in Enstone. He thanked all team members for the moments shared and announced that he will soon reveal his next steps, though for now he will focus on finishing the season successfully.
Bruno Famin, team principal, thanked Ocon for his dedication over the past five years and recalled the victory in Hungary as one of the most memorable moments. Famin emphasized that there are still sixteen races left in 2024 and that the goal is to achieve the best possible results on the track, wishing Ocon all the best for his future.
