At the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix, McLaren will pay tribute to Ayrton Senna with exclusive liveries on a historic McLaren Senna and the Formula 1 MCL38 cars. This initiative, in memory of Senna, aims to highlight his legacy and achievements in motorsport.
McLaren has developed the "Senna Sempre" livery for a pre-production McLaren Senna, decorated with vibrant colors representing Senna's personality and Brazilian nationality. This special livery will also adorn the Formula 1 MCL38 cars driven by Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri during the Monaco Grand Prix.
The McLaren Senna's decoration was created by McLaren Special Operations (MSO) and is part of McLaren's historic collection. The chosen colors not only remind us of Senna but also highlight his performances in Monaco. This special car will be on display throughout the Grand Prix weekend.
The "Senna Sempre" project was developed in collaboration with the Ayrton Senna Institute. This tribute showcases MSO's craftsmanship, using unique painting techniques to reflect Senna's Formula 1 career, his pursuit of perfection, and McLaren's history in competitions.
Michael Leiters, CEO of McLaren Automotive, stated: "Ayrton Senna was born to compete, and his passion lives on in McLaren. The McLaren Senna bears his name and embodies his spirit. This collaboration to honor Senna's legacy 30 years later is a celebration of his driving skills."
Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing, added: "The team is proud to honor Senna with this special livery. Senna is an icon of Formula 1, and his impact on McLaren is immense. Competing in Monaco with his colors is an honor."
The McLaren Senna, introduced in 2017, is the brand's most extreme road car, designed to deliver maximum track performance. The pre-production Senna, now decorated with the "Senna Sempre" livery, has been part of key McLaren events and used for performance tests and launch campaigns.
The "Senna Sempre" livery features the colors of the Brazilian flag, with a paint effect that evokes speed and movement. It also includes details inspired by Senna's helmet and representations of the driver created by MSO.
