The Miami Grand Prix 2024 sprint race in Formula 1 was a race with constant changes. Max Verstappen held the first position in the first corner, while the Aston Martins touched shortly after. Daniel Ricciardo overtook Sergio Pérez and moved into third place.
The Safety Car was deployed due to an incident involving Fernando Alonso, who suffered a puncture and fell to the back. In the same incident, Alonso touched his teammate Lance Stroll before being hit by Lewis Hamilton. As a result, Stroll and Lando Norris retired.
The positions were as follows: Verstappen, Leclerc, Ricciardo, Pérez, Sainz, Piastri, Hulkenberg, Magnussen, Hamilton, and Tsunoda. Alonso went through the pitlane to repair his car and rejoined the field. Alex Albon, who had started from the pitlane, passed four cars.
The Safety Car retired, and Verstappen resumed the race. Alonso switched to hard tires and began chasing Esteban Ocon, while Ricciardo held third place, with Leclerc escaping. Pérez overtook Ricciardo and moved into third position.
The race stabilized with Verstappen in front, while Leclerc lost the opportunity to use DRS. Pérez broke away in the fight for third place, and Ricciardo held off Sainz. Ocon received a 10-second penalty for an incident with Leclerc.
On lap 13 of 19, Verstappen was leading, and Piastri was attempting to overtake Sainz. Hamilton tried to pass Magnussen but was overtaken by Tsunoda. Magnussen received a penalty for gaining an advantage by going off track. Alonso overtook Ocon, while Sainz continued trying to pass Ricciardo.
Verstappen won the race, followed by Leclerc and Pérez. Ricciardo held fourth place, with Sainz, Piastri, Hulkenberg, Tsunoda, Hamilton, and Gasly completing the top 10.
