In the sprint race in Shanghai China of the Formula 1 Championship, Lewis Hamilton took the lead at the start, while Lando Norris went off track. By the third lap, Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz were competing to stay among the top five, but Max Verstappen faced issues with the battery. By the fifth lap, Verstappen managed to pull away from Sainz, out of reach of the DRS system.
The top five positions remained stable until the eighth lap, when Verstappen passed Alonso for second place, and then Hamilton for the lead in the following lap. By lap 12, Verstappen was leading, followed by Hamilton, Alonso, Sainz, and Sergio Perez. Verstappen extended his lead to 4.4 seconds over Hamilton by lap 13.
Charles Leclerc attempted to overtake Perez on lap 16, but was unsuccessful. Sainz passed Alonso on lap 17, but during this battle, Perez managed to overtake both to take third position. Alonso suffered a puncture shortly after and had to retire after going to the pits.
By lap 18, the top five consisted of Verstappen, Hamilton, Perez, Leclerc, and Sainz. In the end, Verstappen won the race with a 12.923-second lead over second place.
