Ferrari announced the renewal of Charles Leclerc's contract, who will continue as a full‑time driver for the team in Formula 1 for the coming seasons. The agreement, communicated from Maranello, gives continuity to a driver who at 28 years old is already the second with the most Grands Prix contested for the Scuderia, with 155 races since 2019, and the second with the most pole positions in the history of the house, with 27. In both categories only Michael Schumacher stands above him.

The extension of the link makes Leclerc an atypical case of longevity within the Prancing Horse. With eight consecutive seasons as a full‑time driver and the new agreement already underway, the Monegasque equals the runs of Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa and is poised to leave them behind in the coming years. Only Schumacher, with eleven uninterrupted campaigns between 1996 and 2006, remained longer without interruption in the seat of the red car.

His 27 poles place him as one of the best qualifiers on the current grid and in the history of the category, but the conversion into victories barely reaches eight in 155 participations. The ratio between poles and wins is low for someone of his competitive level and evidences the difference between qualifying speed and race performance, where race management, team decisions and the car's pace all play a part.

Leclerc joined Ferrari in 2019 after coming through the Ferrari Driver Academy since 2016 and winning the Formula 2 title in 2017. His best result in the world championship was runner‑up in 2022, and he has 52 podium appearances, a figure that places him among the most successful names in the organisation. In the official statement, Leclerc described Ferrari as "much more than a team" and pointed to the goal of "bringing the world championship back to Maranello." Fred Vasseur, the Scuderia's team principal, called the renewal "very natural" and valued Leclerc's identification with every level of the structure.

The agreement does not detail the number of seasons. The reference to "the coming seasons" places Leclerc as the centrepiece of the medium‑term project. In the hybrid era, Ferrari has only had cars capable of fighting for the championship in stretches during 2017, 2018 and 2022. Leclerc has 27 poles and eight victories, numbers that sum up the gap between speed and Sunday results.
