Felipe Nasr, Julien Andlauer, and Laurin Heinrich won the 74th running of the 12 Hours of Sebring in the Porsche 963 No. 7 of Porsche Penske Motorsport, ahead of the sister car No. 6 of Kévin Estre, Laurens Vanthoor, and Matt Campbell. It is Porsche's 20th overall victory in the event's history and the team's second consecutive 1-2 finish to open the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season, a level of dominance not seen in the GTP category since Audi led the prototype endurance class.
Nasr now has three overall victories at Sebring, a mark only a handful of drivers have reached in the event's modern history. For Heinrich, the result adds to his GTD PRO win in 2025, while Andlauer wins at Sebring for the first time. The two Porsche 963s controlled the majority of the laps and, combined with their performance at Daytona, the Penske platform has been out front for more than 75 percent of the competition this season in the top class.
Internal battle among the Porsches
That control fractured in the final hour and a half due to a battle between the Porsche drivers themselves. With a little over an hour remaining, the team ordered Nasr to cede the lead to Estre, who was running on fresher Michelin tires in the No. 6. Nasr complied, but six minutes later he attacked down the inside at turn 17 and retook a position he would not relinquish again, a move reminiscent of how Estre himself had passed pole-sitter Jack Aitken mid-race at that same corner.
Estre's situation became even more complicated when race officials forced him to give second place back to Aitken in the Cadillac V-Series.R No. 31 for a track limits violation, a position he regained wheel-to-wheel before making his final stop with 51 minutes remaining. Nasr pitted one lap later, maintained the gap, and managed it until the ninth and final caution, caused by the Porsche 911 GT3 R No. 912 of Riccardo Pera stopped on track with temperature issues. The restart with 16 minutes to go changed nothing, and Nasr crossed the line 1.515 seconds ahead of Estre.
Ricky Taylor, Filipe Albuquerque, and Will Stevens capitalized on Aitken's late issues to bring the Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac No. 10 onto the podium in third, and Sheldon van der Linde was involved in one of the costliest incidents of the night with a spin 36 minutes from the finish in the BMW M Hybrid V8 No. 24 that cost him fourth place and allowed Tom Blomqvist to pass him in the final two laps in the Acura ARX-06 No. 60 of Meyer Shank Racing. Further back, the Aston Martin Valkyrie No. 23 of Heart of Racing lost any competitive chance when the V12 engine failed to restart during a routine pit stop with Alex Riberas at the wheel, leaving the car 12 laps down.
Manthey wins for the first time in IMSA with the Grello
Porsche also led GTD PRO, where Manthey Racing scored its first championship victory with the 911 GT3 R No. 911 in its iconic "Grello" livery. Thomas Preining found a gap to pass Harry King on the outside with just over an hour remaining, delivering the class win to himself, Klaus Bachler, and Ricardo Feller. Bachler has become something of a Sebring specialist in the GT category, now accumulating victories with three different Porsche teams over the last four editions.
AO Racing, which won the class in 2025, finished second with the No. 77 of Alessio Picariello, Nick Tandy, and King. The Corvette Z06 GT3.R No. 4 of Tommy Milner, Nicky Catsburg, and Nico Varrone closed out third. The Lexus RC F GT3 No. 14 of Vasser Sullivan, which had started from pole with Jack Hawksworth, suffered a lost left-front wheel with Kyle Kirkwood at the wheel and dropped to eleventh in class.
United Autosports wins at Sebring for the first time with a 1-2 in LMP2
United Autosports placed its two ORECA LMP2 07 cars in the top class positions, though the result did not come without internal tension as the two cars made contact while battling for the win, an incident that forced the No. 22 of Paul Di Resta, Daniel Goldburg, and Rasmus Lindh to change its rear wing on its final stop. Those lost seconds established the final order, with the No. 2 of Mikkel Jensen, Hunter McElrea, and Philip Fayer crossing the line just 0.510 seconds ahead.
Tristan Vautier, John Farano, and Sebastian Alvarez rounded out the top three with the No. 8 of Tower Motorsports.
AO Racing had controlled the class for much of the second half of the race with Jonny Edgar at the front, but an emergency stop under yellow with just under two hours remaining ruined that advantage. Dane Cameron got in the car and could only salvage sixth place.
Fuoco climbed six positions in 15 minutes to win GTD
Antonio Fuoco staged the most aggressive comeback of the race in GTD. The No. 21 of AF Corse USA, which Fuoco shared with Lilou Wadoux and Simon Mann, received two penalties in the final hour (one for contact with another car and another for a technical issue with the powertrain) and still climbed from seventh to first in the final minutes. The move that sealed the victory over Tom Gamble in the Aston Martin No. 27 of Heart of Racing came in one of the most difficult areas of the circuit to pass, the sequence of high-speed corners at the top of the layout, on the final lap.
Gamble, Dudu Barrichello, and Zacharie Robichon had started from pole and controlled a good portion of the race in the Aston Martin, but mechanical issues that forced a long stop and a pit procedure penalty eroded the advantage they had built. Second place, 0.746 seconds behind, left a bitter taste. Callum Ilott, in the Porsche 911 GT3 R No. 120 of Wright Motorsports, finished third.
The next round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will be the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach on April 17-18, featuring the GTP and GTD classes in action.
