Mick Schumacher has officially announced his departure from the Alpine Endurance Team after two seasons in the Hypercar program. He bid farewell on social media, with RLL IndyCar being his most likely destination for 2026.

"I am very grateful for these last two years with the Alpine Endurance Team. I have learned a lot on and off the track, and I thank everyone who has been a part of this," he wrote on his profile.

"I am very grateful for these last two years with the Alpine Endurance Team. I have learned a lot on and off the track, and I thank everyone who has been a part of this."

Alpine responded: "What great memories we have shared over these last two years. Thank you, Mick, for your hard work, dedication, and all your contributions."

RLL as Likely Destination

His test with Rahal Letterman Lanigan in Indianapolis last month had generated speculation that is now gaining momentum. Schumacher stated at the time: "IndyCar is the closest thing to single-seater racing that I can still compete in. I don't want a partial program; it's about doing the full championship."

RLL is operating three cars for 2026 and is looking to complete its lineup alongside Graham Rahal and Louis Foster. The presence of Corinna Schumacher during the test indicated serious negotiations.

Alpine Seeks Third Driver

This departure leaves Alpine with a vacancy after confirming António Félix da Costa on a multi-year contract. Da Costa brings Le Mans experience that the team considers fundamental for its 2026 program. Paul-Loup Chatin also left Alpine to sign for Genesis Magma Racing, leaving two seats to fill.

Balance of Two Seasons

Schumacher completed 16 races with Alpine driving the A424, achieving three podiums at Fuji, Imola, and Spa-Francorchamps. His best result at Le Mans was a top-ten finish in 2024, contributing to the development of the French Hypercar program.
