Genesis Magma Racing has announced Mathieu Jaminet and Paul-Loup Chatin as the final two additions to its lineup for its debut in the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship. The Korean manufacturer now has its full roster of six drivers for the two GMR-001 Hypercars.
Jaminet and Chatin join André Lotterer, Pipo Derani, Dani Juncadella, and Mathys Jaubert in what will be Genesis' first official program in the premier category of world endurance racing.
Moves from IMSA and WEC
Jaminet arrives from Porsche Penske Motorsport, where he just won the 2025 IMSA GTP title alongside Matt Campbell. His departure from Porsche was confirmed in early November, concluding several years with the German manufacturer.
"This is the start of a new chapter for me," stated Jaminet. "I want to bring my experience to a new team and build something incredible for the future."
Chatin leaves the Alpine Endurance Team after two seasons, during which he achieved his first WEC victory this year at Fuji, sharing the cockpit with Charles Milesi and Ferdinand Habsburg. His departure from the French program was also confirmed in November.
"After two enriching years with Alpine and the recent success at Fuji, I feel ready for this new challenge," commented Chatin.
LMDh Experience
Jaminet's arrival reunites two former Porsche drivers at Genesis, as Lotterer also left the German manufacturer after an eight-year collaboration. Jaminet brings five overall wins in IMSA and extensive experience with LMDh systems.
"I am one of the most experienced drivers in LMDh cars and obviously I'm coming from a different car until very recently," he explained regarding the value he can add to the development of the GMR-001.
Chatin contributes specific knowledge of the ORECA chassis that serves as the base for the Genesis Hypercar, in addition to recent WEC experience. His participation in the 2025 ELMS with IDEC Sport familiarized him with Juncadella and Jaubert, who raced in the sister car within the Trajectory program.
First Tests Completed
Jaminet already had his first taste of the GMR-001 during November tests at MotorLand Aragón, where he shared the track with the other drivers in the program. The sessions allowed the team to evaluate different driver combinations.
"I had to adapt a little bit," admitted Jaminet. "The car requires a different driving style to what I'm used to. It seems to like wide, sweeping corners."
Jamie Chadwick also tested the GMR-001 at Magny-Cours and will serve as the official reserve driver for 2026, in addition to continuing with development duties.
Lineups To Be Determined
Sporting director Gabriele Tarquini and team principal Cyril Abiteboul will define the specific driver pairings for each of the two GMR-001s based on the results of upcoming tests. "The chemistry between drivers is fundamental," explained Tarquini. "The tests allow us to evaluate how they work together and how their styles match." Genesis will begin its WEC adventure with the Qatar round, which traditionally opens each season of the world championship.
