Romain Grosjean remains on American tracks by joining Myers Riley Motorsports to compete in the 2026 24 Hours of Daytona, completing the lineup of the #16 Ford Mustang GT3 that will race in the GTD class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

The French driver joins as the fourth driver for the Daytona endurance race, teaming up with a lineup that already included Sheena Monk, Felipe Fraga, and Jenson Altzman. This confirmation comes weeks after Grosjean officially ended his relationship with Lamborghini Squadra Corse, where he participated for three years in the development of the troubled SC63 prototype.

Grosjean's move to Myers Riley marks his first competitive experience with Ford and his debut in the GT3 category after years focused on prototypes and single-seaters. The 38-year-old Grosjean had expressed his intention to stay away from Lamborghini's GT3 program to keep options open in other categories, particularly in the WEC's Hypercar class.

Myers Riley Motorsports emerges from the partnership between Riley Motorsports and 3 Dog Garage, the classic car museum-workshop run by Ross Myers in Boyertown, Pennsylvania. The team confirms Riley Motorsports' return to racing after their experience in prototype categories, though now focusing on the GTD class with the Mustang GT3 developed by Multimatic.

Ross Myers, co-owner of the team, highlighted that "adding Romain to our already strong driver lineup for Daytona creates a lot of excitement and adds momentum that had already begun for a successful start to the 2026 season."

The Mustang GT3 will make its first laps at Daytona International Speedway during the IMSA-sanctioned tests from November 14 to 16. The vehicle will feature a livery paying homage to the Ford Racing Mustangs of the eighties, including classic Motorcraft/Roush schemes.

For Grosjean, this opportunity at Daytona opens a new chapter in his career after difficult periods both in IndyCar and Lamborghini's prototype program. His best result with the SC63 was a seventh place at the 2024 12 Hours of Sebring and a fourth place at Petit Le Mans, precisely in the Italian prototype's final appearance before its definitive retirement. The team has not announced if Grosjean will participate in more races of the 2026 season beyond Daytona.

Myers Riley's plan includes competing in the entire IMSA 2026 season in the GTD class, with the stated goal of earning an invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans using the access path provided by the North American championship's GTD category.
