Colton Herta returns to IMSA. Cadillac confirmed that Herta will race the three rounds of the 2026 IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup with Wayne Taylor Racing, the same program he completed two seasons ago when he won the 12 Hours of Sebring.
Herta now manages a busy schedule: he is the official test driver for the new Cadillac Formula 1 team, will race in F2 with Hitech Racing, and resumes his seat in the #40 WTR alongside Jordan Taylor and Louis Deletraz for Daytona, Sebring, and Road Atlanta.
Cadillac Keeps the Same Faces
Wayne Taylor Racing and Action Express are not changing their main lineups for 2026. The Taylor brothers remain at the helm of their respective cars: Ricky with Filipe Albuquerque in the #10, Jordan with Deletraz in the #40. Will Stevens returns for the endurance races in the #10, balancing his schedule between IMSA and his commitments with Jota in the WEC.
Action Express isn't changing either. Jack Aitken and Earl Bamber continue in the #31 Whelen car, which was the fastest in the GTP field for much of 2025, leading more laps than any other car. Frederik Vesti completes the trio for the endurance races and adds Long Beach because Bamber will be in Imola for the WEC.
The 2025 Numbers
Cadillac ended last year strongly with victories in the final two races, enough to put the #31 in second place in the championship with 2,720 points. Porsche Penske won the title with 2,907 in its #6 car, but the Cadillacs were close: the #10 finished sixth with 2,626 and the #40 ninth with 2,304.
"We learned a huge amount from the start to where we finished," says Jordan Taylor. "Almost every track was new for us with this car, so having that data for 2026 will be invaluable." Deletraz agrees: "Keeping everything the same - same car, same people, same drivers - gives us consistency. After so much learning, I'm convinced we will be stronger."
The Herta-Taylor-Deletraz Chemistry Works
This is not unfamiliar territory for the trio. In 2024, when WTR was still racing with Acura under the Andretti umbrella, Herta integrated perfectly and they won Sebring. They also achieved a podium at Daytona.
"I'm really excited to join Cadillac WTR for the endurance races next year," says Herta. "We had success the last time I was with the team and I hope to continue that. Jordan and Louis are some of the best drivers in the business."
Wayne Taylor sees Herta as the ideal complement: "We are thrilled that Colton can join Jordan and Louis in the #40. The trio has been a great combination and had great success working together in 2024."
Aitken, who is entering his fourth season with Action Express, sums up the atmosphere: "What we've been building this year is something very special. We saw it at Indy and Petit where we completely controlled the races. There's a lot of positive energy right now."
The 2026 season starts on January 24-25 with Daytona. Cadillac will announce its expanded lineup for the 24 hours in the near future.
