Max Verstappen won the United States Grand Prix starting from pole position in Austin. Lando Norris finished second after a battle with Charles Leclerc, who completed the podium in third position. Oscar Piastri, who leads the championship, finished fifth and lost valuable ground in the fight for the world title.

The 56-lap race at the Circuit of the Americas saw Verstappen maintain control from start to finish. Verstappen scored his fifth victory of the season, improving his mathematical chances for the championship.

Soft Tyres Give Leclerc Initial Advantage Over Norris

Charles Leclerc executed a move around the outside of Turn 1 to pass Lando Norris at the start of the race. Ferrari opted for soft tyres for Leclerc, unlike the medium compounds chosen by the rest of the front-runners, giving him a crucial advantage at the start.

Norris was stuck behind Leclerc for 21 laps before finding an opportunity to overtake. Norris made the move on the inside of Turn 12, forcing Leclerc to make a pit stop to switch to medium tyres.

By that time, Verstappen's lead had grown considerably. Norris received warnings for track limit violations during his pursuit of Leclerc, compromising his plan for the rest of the race.

Lap 7 Incident Eliminates Sainz from Competition

Carlos Sainz retired on lap 7 after making contact with Kimi Antonelli at Turn 15. The incident caused a virtual yellow flag and eliminated Sainz of Williams from the race. Antonelli managed to continue but lost multiple positions.

Ferrari Scores Points with Hamilton Distant from Podium Battle

Lewis Hamilton settled into fourth position for Ferrari, maintaining that place for most of the race. Hamilton finished a considerable distance from the podium battle, but scored important points for the Italian team.

Piastri Struggles with Lack of Grip and Loses Ground in Championship

Oscar Piastri experienced grip difficulties in his McLaren throughout the race. Piastri, who leads the championship, managed to pass George Russell at the start but couldn't match the pace of the front-runners. His stop on lap 31 aimed to protect him from Russell's undercut.

Norris Waits 21 Laps to Find Gap Against Leclerc

The second battle between Norris and Leclerc unfolded in the final laps. Norris had lost performance on his soft tyres but waited for the right moment to attack again.

On lap 51, Norris briefly passed Leclerc at Turn 1. Leclerc responded with a switchback, but couldn't resist in the DRS zone. Norris secured second position at Turn 12 and maintained that place until the end.

Bearman Spin Allows Seventh Place for Tsunoda

Yuki Tsunoda finished seventh for the second Red Bull Racing car after an intense battle with Oliver Bearman. Bearman lost eighth place to Nico Hulkenberg when a spin cost him crucial positions.

Fernando Alonso closed out the points in tenth for Aston Martin, resisting pressure from Liam Lawson and Lance Stroll in the final laps.

14-Point Gap Keeps Piastri-Norris Duel Open

The results from Austin reduce the gaps in the drivers' championship. Piastri maintains first place but Norris cut the difference to just 14 points. Verstappen sits third, 40 points behind with five races remaining on the calendar.

Mexico will be the next stage in the fight for the title, with maximum points available for the winner.
