Oscar Piastri achieved his first pole position at the Zandvoort circuit by defeating his McLaren teammate, Lando Norris, by just 0.012 seconds in a qualifying session that took place under sunny conditions following overnight rain that reduced grip on the Dutch track.

The Australian recorded a 1:08.662 on his first fast lap in Q3, edging out Norris thanks to faster sectors in the first and third parts of the coastal circuit. Neither McLaren driver could improve on their final attempts, leaving Norris in second place with a 1:08.674.

Piastri's pole allows him to reach five poles in 2025, one more than the four achieved by Norris, who maintains a nine-point lead over the Australian in the drivers' championship.

Max Verstappen qualifies third in Q3 for the Dutch GP

Max Verstappen secured third place for Red Bull with a 1:08.925, initially sitting four-tenths behind Piastri. The Dutchman executed a very fast second sector on his final lap, reducing the gap to the leader to a quarter of a second and giving some encouragement to the local fans.

Isack Hadjar reaches fourth place in his best qualifying of 2025

Isack Hadjar achieved his best qualifying of the season by placing his Racing Bulls in fourth position with a 1:09.208, beating the Mercedes of George Russell by three-tenths. The Frenchman benefited from his second lap to position himself ahead of Russell on the second row.

Liam Lawson completed a successful day for Racing Bulls by securing eighth place, marking the first time the team has placed both cars in the top ten in qualifying.

Charles Leclerc beats Lewis Hamilton in Ferrari qualifying

Charles Leclerc took sixth place with Ferrari, improving on his final lap to beat Lewis Hamilton by five-hundredths. The Briton had started strong by setting a time just one-hundredth faster than his teammate on the first attempt but found no additional time in his final effort.

Carlos Sainz gets his first Q3 since Imola with Williams

Carlos Sainz achieved ninth place for Williams, securing his first passage to Q3 since the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in May. Fernando Alonso closed out the top 10 with Aston Martin after needing fresh tires to advance from Q2.

Dutch GP Q2 decided by thousandths between several drivers

The intermediate session proved extremely close, with Kimi Antonelli missing out on Q3 by just 0.019 seconds after finishing eleventh with Mercedes. The Italian finished just behind Sainz in a session where the last five places were decided by less than two-tenths.

Alex Albon expressed his frustration after being eliminated in fifteenth place with Williams, blaming the team's tire preparation problems for his early exit.

Lance Stroll out in Q1 after accident at Zandvoort

Lance Stroll failed to set a time after going off at turn 13 during Q1, when he put a wheel on the grass and went into the barriers. The Canadian had had similar problems on Friday.

Franco Colapinto was eliminated in Q1 with Alpine after finishing sixteenth, missing advancement by less than a tenth to Gabriel Bortoleto of Kick Sauber.

The Dutch Grand Prix, the penultimate edition at Zandvoort before the circuit disappears from the calendar after 2026, will start on Sunday at 15:00 local time.
