American Logan Sargeant joins the PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports team for the final two races of the 2025 Michelin Endurance Cup in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship series. The 24-year-old driver will pilot the #52 ORECA LMP2 07 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, marking his return to sports prototypes.
Sargeant arrives at the LMP2 program after his stint in Formula 1 with Williams Racing between 2023 and 2024. The driver completed one and a half seasons in motorsport's premier category before being replaced by Franco Colapinto at the British team.
Previous Experience in 2021 Le Mans and ELMS
Sargeant's transition to endurance racing doesn't represent unfamiliar territory for the Fort Lauderdale native. In 2021 he competed in the Le Mans Cup and European Le Mans Series, where he claimed poles and victories in his debut in both GT3 and LMP2 categories.
Bobby Oergel, team principal and co-owner of PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports, expressed his satisfaction with the signing: "The whole team is very excited that Logan can join us for the final two endurance events of this season. I'm confident Logan's pace will be top-notch and we'll all work well together."
Rao and Pedersen as Teammates
Sargeant will share the cockpit of the #52 ORECA with Naveen Rao and Benjamin Pedersen. Rao commented on his new teammate's arrival: "While Road America didn't go as we hoped, we had a really good car. Indianapolis Motor Speedway demands a lot of precision and I'm curious to see what our car can do there."
Pedersen was optimistic about the trio's chances for the remaining races: "I'm really excited about the final two rounds and welcoming Logan to the team. We've found a lot of speed in the car lately and our total focus for the final two rounds is 100% on getting a win."
Karting Champion in 2015
Sargeant's motorsport career began in karting in 2008. His first major achievement came in 2015 when he won the KF Junior World Karting Championship, becoming the first American to claim this title since 1978.
His progression through the junior categories included stints in UAE Formula 4, where he finished second, and the British F4 Championship with Carlin. In the 2018 Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, he achieved three wins and seven podiums, finishing fifth in the championship.
In FIA Formula 3, Sargeant took his first victory at Silverstone and another at Spa-Francorchamps during the 2020 season, finishing third in the championship by just four points. His performance in 2022 Formula 2 with Carlin, where he finished fourth overall, earned him the super license required to race in Formula 1.
Sargeant's experience with Williams included joining the Williams Driver Academy in 2021, having already tested the car during 2020 preseason testing. His departure from the British team came after the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix, when he was replaced by Franco Colapinto.
