Lando Norris secured pole position for the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps with a time of 1m40.562s. The McLaren driver edged out his teammate Oscar Piastri, while Charles Leclerc rounded out the top 3 for Ferrari.

Norris prevails in McLaren battle

The #4 driver took advantage of the first run in Q3 to set his best time, being the only driver to improve on his Q2 benchmark. Piastri's response in the second attempt wasn't enough to close the gap, leaving him in second position.

This pole marks Norris' fourth of the 2025 season, matching his teammate's tally. Piastri had taken Saturday's sprint pole, though Norris finished behind his teammate in the 15-lap race before reversing the result in the decisive session.

Leclerc capitalizes on Verstappen's troubles

Charles Leclerc claimed third position by the narrowest margin over Max Verstappen. The Red Bull Racing driver suffered a major slide at La Source during his second attempt, compromising a lap that was already affected by using used soft tires in higher track temperature conditions.

Alex Albon achieved an excellent fifth place for Williams, ahead of Mercedes' George Russell, who couldn't improve his Q2 time. Yuki Tsunoda delivered his best performance with Red Bull Racing by qualifying seventh, followed by the Racing Bulls duo of Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson. Gabriel Bortoleto completed the top 10 for Kick Sauber.

Hamilton eliminated in Q1 for track limits

Q2 saw several contenders fall. Esteban Ocon (Haas) missed out on Q3 by the smallest margin, while Oliver Bearman was knocked out after a slide through the right-hand Pouhon complex forced him to abort his fast lap. Pierre Gasly (Alpine), Nico Hulkenberg (Kick Sauber) and Carlos Sainz (Williams) completed the eliminated drivers.

In Q1, Lewis Hamilton had the most dramatic moment when his time was deleted for exceeding track limits at Raidillon. The Ferrari driver had initially escaped the elimination zone in the final moments, but the penalty left him 16th and out of the session. Franco Colapinto (Alpine), Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) and the two Aston Martin drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll completed the five eliminated.

The opening session also featured a pit lane incident when Nico Hulkenberg was released into the path of Lance Stroll, damaging his front wing and resulting in stewards summoning the team for an unsafe release.

The Belgian Grand Prix will take place on Sunday, June 29 with varying broadcast times by region. Mexico can watch the race at 07:00 on FOX Sports México and FOX Sports Premium. Central American countries (Costa Rica, Belize, El Salvador and Panama) can tune in at 07:00 on Disney+ Premium.
