Robert Kubica, Yifei Ye and Philip Hanson drove the Ferrari 499P #83 of AF Corse to victory at the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans. The customer team won by 14 seconds over the Porsche #6 from Penske Motorsport driven by Kévin Estre, Laurens Vanthoor and Matt Campbell.
The result marks the first victory for a customer team in the Hypercar category since the LMH/LMDh era began in 2021. Kubica drove 10 of the total 24 hours and set the fastest lap for #83 with a 3:26.562.
Safety Car allows Porsche to take nighttime lead
The only full neutralization came during the early morning when Cem Bolukbasi crashed the Nielsen Racing Oreca-Gibson at Tertre Rouge. Pit stops during the Safety Car period put the Porsche #6 driven by Vanthoor in the lead, where it remained competitive until the final hours.
The Cadillac #12 and #38 that started from pole position lost pace early. Will Stevens finished fifth with the #12, while Sébastien Bourdais was eighth with the #38 after receiving penalties for track limit violations.
Pier Guidi loses lead due to pit error
Alessandro Pier Guidi skidded while entering the pits during hour 20, losing the 25-second advantage held by the factory Ferrari #51. The mistake handed the lead to AF Corse's #83 being driven by Yifei Ye at that moment.
Prior to the incident, Antonio Giovinazzi had resisted attacks from Robert Kubica in the #83. The Pole set the race's fastest lap (3:26.562) while chasing the Italian but couldn't complete the on-track overtake.
Toyota #8 drops out of podium fight due to mechanical issue
The Toyota #8 lost its podium chances when Ryo Hirakawa suffered a detached right rear wheel in hour 20. A poorly tightened wheel nut during pit service caused the wheel to come off, forcing the Japanese driver to complete half a lap on three wheels.
Kamui Kobayashi salvaged points for Toyota by finishing sixth with the #7, recovering from a 50-second penalty for pitlane speeding applied early in the race.
Porsche Manthey wins LMGT3 with one-minute advantage
Richard Lietz, Klaus Bachler and Riccardo Pera drove the Porsche 911 GT3 R #92 of Manthey to victory in LMGT3. The German team overcame a drive-through penalty for yellow flag violations to finish over one minute ahead of the Ferrari #21 from Vista AF Corse.
Charlie Eastwood, Tom van Rompuy and Rui Andrade completed the class podium with the Corvette Z06 #81 of TF Sport. The Heart of Racing Aston Martin #27 came fourth, while the Lexus entries from Akkodis ASP had challenging races.
Inter Europol wins LMP2 by 20 seconds
Tom Dillmann, Clément Novalak and Oliver Gray drove the Oreca #43 of Inter Europol Competition to victory in LMP2. The final margin over the #48 from VDS Panis Racing was 20 seconds after 24 hours of racing.
Paul Lafargue completed the LMP2 podium with the IDEC Sport #28. The sister #18 retired in hour 14 when André Lotterer lost a wheel during his stint.
Kubica adds Le Mans to remarkable comeback story
The 40-year-old Polish driver adds Le Mans to a career that includes his sole Formula 1 victory at the 2008 Canadian GP with BMW Sauber. Kubica achieved 12 F1 podiums until 2010 before suffering a severe rally accident in 2011 that nearly cost him his right arm and interrupted his top-tier career.
He returned to F1 in 2019 with Williams despite physical limitations, scoring one point that season. Later serving as reserve driver for Alfa Romeo before joining the WEC with AF Corse in 2021, initially competing in GTE-Pro with the Ferrari 488 GTE.

I’ve had a passion for motorsport since my childhood. Even as a child, I used to often have a camera between my hands. Later, I professionalized in the audiovisual field and then the idea to mix these two passions for racing and photography came up. Now, I mainly cover WEC and endurance racing, but also local hillclimb events.
