In the heart of Miami, Ferrari drivers along with team principal Fred Vasseur today revealed the new look that the SF-25 cars will sport during this weekend's Grand Prix. The visual modification uniquely integrates Ferrari's characteristic red with HP's white and blue through an application that breaks conventions by featuring different designs on each side of the single-seaters.
Advanced Coating Technology
The plants in Maranello and Barcelona have collaborated to develop an exterior film that substantially modifies the properties of the previous coating. This material, which eliminates PVC and allows for complete recycling, reduces weight by 14% and thickness by 17%, with improved thermal resistance.
The application of this film using HP's latex technology marks just the beginning of a broader project between both companies, aiming to optimize decoration processes for future designs by reducing application times and expanding aesthetic possibilities.
The main design novelty for Miami lies in the incorporation of different patterns on each side of the cars, something never before attempted by Ferrari. The SF-25 cars driven by Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton will maintain the traditional red dominance but incorporate HP's electric blue elements on both front and rear wings.
White wheels complete the ensemble, providing contrast that gives the vehicles a modern look. This proposal isn't merely aesthetic but symbolizes the union between both companies under principles of innovation and creativity.
Ferrari's Visual Evolution
Last year, Ferrari already surprised in Miami with significant visual modifications, though of a very different nature. On that occasion, the SF-24 incorporated two blue tones (Azzurro La Plata and Azzurro Dino) as homage to the brand's 70th anniversary in the United States.
The Azzurro La Plata, a light tone associated with Argentina in motorsport, referenced the era of Alberto Ascari and his 1952-1953 championships. Meanwhile, the darker Azzurro Dino recalled the single-seater driven by Clay Regazzoni in 1974.
That 2024 design applied the blue tones to wings, halo, mirrors, wheels and number plates, while Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc wore Azzurro La Plata race suits and mechanics used Azzurro Dino during pit stops.
