The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez circuit will continue to be part of the official Formula 1 calendar for three additional seasons. After months of negotiations, Mexican authorities and F1 officials agreed to extend the Mexico City Grand Prix until 2028, consolidating the Latin American country's position in international motorsport.

The Mexico City government, led by Clara Brugada, along with President Claudia Sheinbaum, have been fundamental in maintaining this sports project

Agreement benefits all involved parties

The confirmation of the new agreement comes after the current contract, which ends with the 2025 race, was successfully renegotiated. The announcement represents an important achievement for CIE, the event's promoter, which managed to maintain the official "Mexico City Grand Prix" designation for the 2026, 2027, and 2028 editions.

The support of Mexican authorities proved crucial to finalizing this extension, as the race not only serves as a sporting spectacle but also as a platform to project Mexico's image to millions of viewers worldwide.

Mexico breaks attendance records

Despite doubts about how the potential absence of Sergio Pérez from the grid might affect it, interest in F1 in Mexico remains at extraordinary levels. The 2024 edition recorded unprecedented attendance of 405,000 people during the weekend, confirming that enthusiasm for the event transcends the participation of local drivers.

This phenomenon has made the Mexican Grand Prix one of the favorites among teams and drivers, who enjoy an incomparable atmosphere, especially in the famous Estadio section, where over 60,000 fans converge.
