McLaren unveiled the evolution of its design for the 2025 Formula 1 season, maintaining the papaya color palette with anthracite details and a touch of turquoise blue. This update follows the team's tradition of preserving elements from its previous livery after a successful championship.
MCL39: First Run at Silverstone
The MCL39, which had its first track outing at Silverstone with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri behind the wheel, will showcase this new visual identity in its defense of the constructors' title. The livery incorporates details inspired by the geometric camouflage design seen in early February, with a diagonal cut integrating anthracite into the main design. Additionally, the drivers' suits will reflect this aesthetic with similar details.
Support from Sponsors and Team Vision
The British team will continue to receive support from its sponsors, who will have a prominent presence in the new livery. Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing, emphasized the importance of this evolution in the team's image and the enthusiasm with which they approach the new competitive year.
Andrea Stella, team principal, highlighted the effort put into preparing the car for the final year under the current regulations, aiming to remain in contention for podiums and victories. He also acknowledged the collaboration with Mercedes HPP in engine development, which plays a key role in the team's strategy.
Drivers' Expectations
McLaren drivers shared their thoughts on the design and the upcoming season. Norris, who has competed his entire Formula 1 career with the British team, highlighted the importance of preserving last year's design essence and is confident in carrying the momentum from recent campaigns to fight for both championships. Piastri, on the other hand, pointed out the significance of this season for his growth as a driver and his excitement to race the MCL39 at his home Grand Prix in Melbourne.
Testing in Bahrain
McLaren kicks off 2025 with a refreshed visual identity and the goal of maintaining its place in the championship. The car will have its first on-track test in Bahrain, where the team aims to validate the work done during pre-season.
