Penske Entertainment has announced adjustments in its leadership structure to strengthen operations at INDYCAR and Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS). Doug Boles, IMS president since 2013, will assume the presidency of INDYCAR and IMS, replacing Jay Frye.

Leadership Updates

  • Doug Boles, recognized for his management at IMS, will lead both entities. During his time at IMS, he oversaw significant infrastructure projects, including improvements following Penske Corp.'s acquisition of the circuit.
  • Mark Sibla will be the new Senior Vice President of INDYCAR Competition and Operations.
  • Kyle Novak will take on the role of Vice President of Race Control and Officials, heading the oversight of sporting regulations.
  • Alex Damron has been appointed Chief Marketing Officer of INDYCAR and will continue as Vice President of Corporate Communications at Penske Entertainment.
  • Louis Kissinger will serve as General Manager of IMS Operations, responsible for event organization and hospitality sales.

Doug Boles' Career in Motorsport

With more than two decades in the industry, Boles has held various roles in track operations and series teams. He was previously a co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Panther Racing, achieving 15 wins and two INDYCAR series titles, as well as notable results in INDY NXT by Firestone.

“Doug is the right person to lead this new chapter,” said Mark Miles, President and CEO of Penske Entertainment.

Boles expressed his gratitude for the opportunity: “I’m excited to work with the INDYCAR team and prepare for a great season for our fans.”

Additional Changes at INDYCAR

Mark Sibla and Kyle Novak will have new responsibilities in operations and race control. Sibla, with over a decade of experience in the organization, will oversee the development of the new chassis and other key initiatives. Novak will lead the race control team for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and INDY NXT, ensuring strict enforcement of regulations.

Meanwhile, Alex Damron, as the new Chief Marketing Officer, will focus on expanding the series’ exposure through its relationship with FOX Sports, developing a renewed promotional strategy.

The 2025 season will kick off on Sunday, March 2, with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, broadcast on FOX.

Tim Cindric's Reduced Involvement

Additionally, at the end of January 2025, Tim Cindric announced a reduction in his daily involvement in managing Team Penske after 25 years as team president. Cindric will continue as president of INDYCAR operations at Team Penske and will oversee the team’s historical archives and assets. This decision aims to provide him with more flexibility in this new phase of his career. Michael Nelson and Jonathan Diuguid will take on greater responsibilities within the team, reporting directly to Roger Penske.
