Historic relationship between battery brand and JGR continues in the NASCAR Cup Series

The longest-standing partnership in NASCAR will continue in 2025. Interstate Batteries, a leading replacement battery company in the United States, has signed a contract extension with Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR), ensuring the continuity of their collaboration for over three decades.

A Partnership Born with JGR

Since its debut in the NASCAR Cup Series in 1992, JGR has had Interstate Batteries as its primary partner. This support allowed Joe Gibbs to strengthen his team and sign Dale Jarrett, who later became a NASCAR Hall of Fame member.

Norm Miller, chairman emeritus of Interstate Batteries, recalled the importance of the alliance: "When we started in 1992, we had around 120,000 distributors, but our brand lacked national recognition. Joe Gibbs Racing gave us visibility, and with Dale Jarrett's victory at the 1993 Daytona 500, we established ourselves in the public's mind."

Since that first triumph, Interstate Batteries has witnessed 214 victories in the Cup Series and five championships achieved by JGR. Every initial milestone of the team, such as its first pole with Bobby Labonte in 1995 and its first title with Labonte in 2000, occurred with the battery brand as the primary sponsor.

Interstate Batteries' Presence in the 2025 Season

For the new season, Christopher Bell will carry the brand's characteristic colors in four NASCAR Cup Series races with his Toyota Camry XSE No. 20. Ty Gibbs will also represent Interstate Batteries in the June 1 race at Nashville Superspeedway.

A Bond That Remains Strong

Lain Hancock, president and CEO of Interstate Batteries, highlighted the relevance of this partnership: "Our customers have been fundamental to our growth, and working with Joe Gibbs Racing has allowed us to strengthen that connection. Our identity is tied to this relationship, and we continue with the same enthusiasm after more than 30 years."

Joe Gibbs, founder of JGR, also valued the continuity of the agreement: "We wouldn’t be where we are without Interstate Batteries. Since Norm and Tommy Miller trusted us without even having a workshop or ready cars, they have been a fundamental part of our team. It is one of the strongest alliances in motorsports."
