Spire Motorsports has confirmed that Andrés Pérez de Lara, 2024 ARCA Menards Series champion, will compete full-time in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series 2025, driving the No. 77 Chevrolet Silverado. The main goal will be to contend for the Rookie of the Year title this season.

The Mexican driver made his Truck Series debut in June 2024 at the World Wide Technology Raceway, where he qualified 16th and finished ninth. This year, he will be accompanied by Chad Walter, a seasoned NASCAR crew chief, who will lead strategies from the pit wall for Spire Motorsports.

Team Statements

“We have identified Andrés as a key part of our organization’s future and the growth of the sport,” said Jeff Dickerson, co-owner of Spire Motorsports. “He’s a driver with great potential, already familiar with our processes and ready to tackle this season’s challenges.”

Career Highlights

Pérez de Lara, 19, claimed the 2024 ARCA Menards Series championship with 10 top-five finishes and 17 top-10s, becoming the first Mexican driver to win this title in the series’ history. During his rookie season in 2023, he finished runner-up, with 10 top-five and 15 top-10 finishes in his first experience in U.S. national series.

In his two ARCA seasons, he recorded three poles, 20 top-five finishes, and 33 top-10s, with an average start of 6.4 and an average finish of 7.5, leading a total of 108 laps. Before transitioning to the U.S., Pérez de Lara competed in karting, L-A Formula 4, and NASCAR México Trucks. In 2022, he won the NASCAR México Challenge Series championship and achieved his first NASCAR México Series victory at the Ovalo Aguascalientes México.

A Backed Project

The No. 77 Chevrolet Silverado will be supported by Telcel, Infinitum, and Claro, who will continue as sponsors throughout the season. Details regarding the primary sponsorship will be announced later.

Regarding his new challenge, Andrés stated, “This is an opportunity I’ve worked hard for. Being part of a team like Spire Motorsports is incredible, as I’m surrounded by experienced individuals who will contribute to my growth. I’m eager to face the challenges this season brings, especially the new tracks I’ll be visiting. Daytona can’t come soon enough.”

Experienced Leadership

Crew chief Chad Walter brings over two decades of NASCAR experience, including Daytona 500 wins in 2001 and 2003. Under his guidance, Spire Motorsports’ No. 71 team achieved a win, two poles, and advanced to the Round of 8 in the 2024 Truck Series playoffs. “It’s a pleasure to work with Andrés and help him develop his talent. We’ve assembled a strong team to support him and compete consistently throughout the season,” Walter said.

Select Group

With his full-time participation, Pérez de Lara joins a select group of Mexican drivers who have competed in NASCAR national series in the U.S., including Daniel Suárez, 2016 Xfinity Series champion, and Germán Quiroga, who raced in the Truck Series in 2013 and 2014.
