Latvian driver Mārtiņš Sesks will continue his journey in the Rally1 category of the World Rally Championship this year, thanks to a six-event program with the M-Sport Ford team. This new chapter comes after his outstanding performances in 2024, which caught the attention of sponsors and the support of the WRC promoter.
2025 Program and Goals
Sesks, alongside his co-driver Renars Francis, will start his season at the Rally Sweden in February. He will also compete in the rounds in Portugal, Italy, Greece, Estonia, and Finland. The team is also aiming to add an additional event in Saudi Arabia, a new addition to the 2025 calendar. To achieve this, they are actively working on securing the necessary funding.
Progress and Consolidation
Last year, Sesks debuted in the top category of the WRC with a non-hybrid Ford Puma Rally1, achieving promising results in Poland, Latvia, and Chile. In Poland, he finished fifth, while in Latvia, he won stages and came close to the podium before technical issues struck in the final stage. These performances earned him a spot in M-Sport's 2025 driver lineup.
Key Partnerships
Support from the Australian company SafetyCulture and other Latvian sponsors has been crucial in securing Sesks' participation this year. Richard Millener, team principal of M-Sport Ford, highlighted the joint efforts of sponsors and the WRC promoter to make this partial program possible.
A Career on the Rise
Before joining Rally1, Sesks competed in the European Rally Championship (ERC) with the Team MRF Tyres. In 2023, he secured two victories, including the rounds in Poland and Latvia, along with a runner-up finish overall. In 2024, he continued his collaboration with MRF, driving the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, solidifying his reputation as one of rallying's most promising talents.
Future Projections
With a reduced calendar for 2025, Sesks aims to establish his position in the Rally1 category and gain valuable experience in the championship. His performance this year will be crucial for securing a full program in 2026.
