On an unforgettable night at Phoenix Raceway, Ty Majeski achieved the highest honor in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series by securing his first championship in the category. From the start of the race, Majeski demonstrated superior performance, leading 132 of the 150 laps and solidifying his position at the front of the pack.
The ThorSport Racing driver started from the pole position and set a pace that his rivals could not match. Corey Heim, who recovered from a penalty for a restart violation, attempted to close the gap, but Majeski maintained control and crossed the finish line with nearly a four-second lead.
"It's a dream come true," Majeski said after the race. "I am deeply grateful to Duke and Rhonda Thorson for this opportunity, and to my crew chief Joe Shear Jr. for his excellent work. This team has been fundamental to my career, especially after overcoming past obstacles. Being able to reward their trust with this championship is indescribable."
Majeski's victory also marked the sixth championship for ThorSport Racing, cementing it as the most successful team in the series' history. This achievement adds to previous titles won with drivers like Matt Crafton and Ben Rhodes, showcasing the team's consistency and excellence within motorsports.
Corey Heim displayed tenacity by climbing back up the standings after his penalty, finishing in second place. While he expressed some disappointment at not winning the championship, he acknowledged Majeski's exceptional performance: "We did everything we could to recover, but Ty was unbeatable today," Heim said. "We close the season with six wins, which is a great achievement for the entire team. We'll come back stronger next year."
Other standout drivers included Christian Eckes and Grant Enfinger, who finished third and fifth, respectively. Both opted to pit for fresh tires in the final laps, aiming to close the gap to the leader, but they were unable to catch Majeski.
The race saw several incidents, including a multi-vehicle collision on the backstretch that involved nine trucks and caused a red flag, halting the competition for more than six minutes. Once racing resumed, Majeski reclaimed the lead and held it to the finish.
Majeski's crew chief, Joe Shear Jr., celebrated his second championship in the series, having secured his first title in 2016. "Working with Ty and this team has been an incredible experience," Shear said. "This title reflects the hard work and dedication of everyone involved."
With this triumph, Ty Majeski establishes himself as a champion and sends a clear message about his potential and future in the sport. His performance in Phoenix highlights his talent and suggests what he may achieve in the coming seasons.
