Toyota Motor North America has confirmed that, starting from the 2025 season, its racing division will be renamed Toyota Gazoo Racing North America. This change will align all its North American operations with the global structure of Toyota Gazoo Racing. TRD, U.S.A., will continue providing technical and engineering support at the brand's sporting events in the United States.
Paul Doleshal, motorsports manager at TMNA, mentioned that this transition will allow for better synchronization with Toyota's international programs, using motorsports as a platform to improve production vehicles.
Continuity in the main series
Toyota will maintain the same platforms in the most important championships. In the NASCAR Cup Series, teams will continue competing with the Toyota Camry, while the GR Supra will remain the model for the Xfinity Series. In NHRA, Formula DRIFT, and other categories, vehicles like the GR Corolla Hatchback, GR Supra, and GR86 will continue representing the brand under the Toyota Gazoo Racing name.
The Toyota GR Cup, which uses the GR86 model, will begin its third season in 2025 without major changes. The Tundra models in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series and Toyota's off-road vehicles will keep the TRD Pro and TRD badges, respectively.
Start of the 2025 season
The new era of Toyota Gazoo Racing North America will officially begin in Daytona on January 24, 2025, with the GR Supra participating in the four-hour GT4 race. Shortly after, the NASCAR season will kick off with the Cup Series Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium on February 2, 2025, followed by the traditional week in Daytona from February 12 to 16.
