Nasser Al Attiyah once again showcased his determination and strategic prowess by switching vehicles and winning his third FIA W2RC world title with Dacia Sandriders. Despite the change of vehicle, Al Attiyah won the Rallye du Maroc, beating his rivals Guillaume de Mévius and Yazeed Al Rajhi. The final stage of the rally was particularly challenging, with rocky terrain and dunes testing all competitors. Al Attiyah remained calm, and his experience was key to overcoming Mévius, who had shown strong pace in previous stages. With this victory, the Qatari driver secured not only the win in Morocco but also the championship, strengthening his position for the upcoming season.

Results of Rivals

Guillaume de Mévius, who finished second, tried to close the gap to Al Attiyah during the final stage, but mechanical issues prevented him from keeping up the necessary pace to challenge for the lead. Meanwhile, Yazeed Al Rajhi managed to hold onto his third position both in the race and in the championship, showing consistency and a steady approach.

Al Attiyah's results also contributed to Toyota Gazoo Racing retaining its crown in the constructors' championship, demonstrating the team's reliability and performance throughout the season. The final stage was crucial in securing this win, as both Al Rajhi and Lucas Moraes, also from Toyota, completed the race without major issues, ensuring valuable points for the team.

Challenger Category

In the Challenger category, the Goczal family made an impact. Eryk Goczal won the race in Morocco, while his father Marek also placed among the top positions, proving the family's ability to tackle rally-raid challenges. The final stage saw Eryk secure his lead, winning the last stage and earning his first title of the season. Saudi driver Dania Akeel achieved an impressive third-place finish, establishing herself as one of the most promising female drivers in the category. The competition in Challenger was intense, with each stage presenting difficulties that tested the preparation and strategy of the drivers.

SSV Category

In the SSV category, Yasir Seaidan had an outstanding performance throughout the rally, securing a decisive victory in Morocco that allowed him to beat Ecuadorian Sebastián Guayasamin by just two points. In the final stage, Seaidan had to manage the pressure from Guayasamin, who was desperately trying to regain the lead. However, Seaidan managed to maintain his advantage thanks to precise and error-free driving, winning the title by a narrow margin. Italian driver Rebecca Busi also delivered a strong performance, finishing third and proving her worth in the competition.

Looking Ahead to the 2025 Season

The 2024 season concludes with a variety of champions that highlight the diversity and competitiveness of rally-raid. The next season will kick off with the Dakar Rally in January, followed by the introduction of the South African Safari Rally in May. This new addition will expand the geographical scope of the championship, taking drivers to face new terrains and challenges in South Africa.

The 2025 calendar will continue in the Middle East with the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge in February, followed by the BP Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal in September, and returning to Africa for the finale at the Rallye du Maroc in October. The inclusion of new events will bring more challenges and opportunities for teams and drivers, testing their adaptability across a variety of landscapes.
