The 4th stage was the longest of the rally so far, covering a total of 687 kilometers, of which 327 were special stages, connecting Zagora with Mengoub/Bouârfa. Competitors crossed the Merzouga dunes, facing a terrain that required precise navigation skills. The caravan entered the Oriental region of Morocco, adding a significant challenge for the drivers, who had to overcome tough conditions and make quick decisions to maintain their positions.
Loeb wins in cars while Al Attiyah maintains the lead
Sébastien Loeb, from Dacia Sandriders, won his first stage in the car category, beating Guillaume de Mévius by 19 seconds. Carlos Sainz finished in third place on the podium. Despite finishing in fourth place, Nasser Al Attiyah remains the overall leader, though his advantage over De Mévius has shrunk to 4 minutes and 45 seconds. The competition is heating up, with De Mévius closing the gap and Loeb showing strong performance with Dacia.
Family dominance in Challenger and solid performances in SSV and trucks
In the Challenger category, Eryk Goczal took the victory, replacing his uncle Michal Goczal at the top of the standings, maintaining the family's dominance. In the SSV category, the Can-Am Maverick R Experimental vehicles driven by Hunter Miller and "Chaleco" López led the stage, with López keeping his overall lead ahead of Yasir Seaidan. These results keep the Goczal family and López as key contenders.
In the truck category, Martin Macik won his fourth consecutive stage, solidifying himself as the leader without showing any signs of losing momentum. His performance so far positions him as the main candidate for the overall victory.
