Layne Riggs, behind the wheel of the Ford No. 38, achieved his second consecutive victory in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series, winning the UNOH 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Although he's not competing for the championship, Riggs has shown excellent performance in recent races, having previously won in Milwaukee.
Riggs overtook Corey Heim on lap 121 of the 200 scheduled, taking control of the race until the end. Despite not being in the playoffs, Riggs expressed his wish to have competed for the title, mentioning the progress his team has made over the season.
Corey Heim and Rajah Caruth advance in the playoffs
Corey Heim, in the Toyota No. 11, earned enough points to advance to the next round of the playoffs, even though he finished second in the race. Rajah Caruth, who finished third, also improved his position in the standings, placing himself among the top eight drivers who will continue in the competition. Not all drivers had a favorable race. Ben Rhodes, the reigning champion, faced mechanical problems and finished in 27th place, leaving him out of the top 8. Daniel Dye also had complications after an incident with Kaden Honeycutt, which relegated him to 37th place.
Next stop: Kansas
With the next race in Kansas being crucial for some drivers, the pressure is at its peak. Riggs, despite not being in the playoffs, has established himself as one of the strongest drivers of the season.
