Meyer Shank Racing has announced that New Zealand driver Marcus Armstrong will compete with them in the 2025 IndyCar season. Armstrong, 24, will be in charge of driving the No. 66 Honda-powered car. The team has already confirmed that he will share the garage with Felix Rosenqvist, who recently renewed his multi-year contract with the team. Armstrong joins Meyer Shank Racing after two seasons with Chip Ganassi Racing, a team with which Meyer Shank will maintain a technical alliance starting next year.
Armstrong’s Impressions and Goals for 2025
Armstrong mentioned feeling motivated by this new stage in his career, highlighting the positive atmosphere he perceived when meeting Meyer Shank Racing’s owners, Mike Shank and Jim Meyer. According to the driver, their passion and focus on performance were evident from their first conversation, which gives him confidence to work with the team. Armstrong expressed his desire to integrate into the team during the preseason and prepare for the start of the championship in St. Petersburg.
The New Zealander also commented on his experience in the current season, where he felt increasingly comfortable, especially with the challenge of competing on ovals. He is confident that Meyer Shank Racing will provide the necessary tools to compete for victories in 2025.
Previous Results of Armstrong in IndyCar
The 2024 season was Armstrong’s first full year in IndyCar, achieving three top-five finishes, including his first podium in Detroit. Despite participating in only 12 races in 2023, Armstrong was named Rookie of the Year, demonstrating his capability in the series.
Meyer Shank Racing’s Vision for 2025
Mike Shank, co-owner of the team, praised Armstrong’s growth and consistency over his two years in the series. He highlighted the competitiveness of IndyCar but expressed confidence that Armstrong has proven himself to be a solid contender. Shank assured that the team will work to provide the best car and tools necessary to achieve the desired results.
