Thierry Neuville, current WRC leader, has signed a contract extension with Hyundai Motorsport that will keep him with the team until the end of 2025. This agreement strengthens his relationship of over a decade with the South Korean brand, where he has played an essential role in the team's development in the WRC. Neuville, who leads the championship by 27 points, will seek to consolidate his position at the upcoming EKO Acropolis Rally in Greece.
Since his first WRC victory with Hyundai at the 2014 Rallye Deutschland, Neuville has accumulated 20 wins, 59 podiums, and 371 stage victories. The contract renewal reflects the mutual trust between the Belgian driver and Hyundai, who have formed a strong competitive alliance in the championship.
Hyundai's Plans for 2025
Alongside his co-driver Martijn Wydaeghe, Neuville will continue to team up with Ott Tänak and his co-driver Martin Järveoja, who will also compete in the 2025 WRC season. Hyundai has yet to announce the complete lineup for its third i20 N Rally1 Hybrid car, but it is expected to do so soon, which could influence the team's dynamics for the upcoming season.
Statements from Neuville and Abiteboul
Neuville expressed his satisfaction with continuing his career with Hyundai, highlighting the longevity of his relationship with the team: "It is a great honor to continue with Hyundai in 2025. We have achieved a lot together since 2014, and I am motivated to keep pursuing new successes. This team has become my second family, and winning the title with them this year would be the greatest achievement."
For his part, Cyril Abiteboul, president of Hyundai Motorsport, emphasized the importance of ensuring the continuity of Neuville and Tänak in the team: "Neuville's renewal reaffirms our commitment to the WRC for 2025. Thierry has been a key figure since the beginning of our program, contributing both in competition and in car development. With him and Martijn in our team, we are ready to keep fighting for the titles in the upcoming seasons."
