Roshfrans Super Cup returns to Chihuahua on September 8

On September 8, 2024, the Autódromo Francisco Villa, located on the Jiménez-Chihuahua highway, will open its doors to motorsport enthusiasts to host a new edition of the Súper Copa Roshfrans. This event will feature a total of seven races across six categories: Pony, Exóticos, Trans Am, Súper Turismo, GTM, and Tractos.

The Return of National Motorsport to Chihuahua

Last season, the Autódromo Francisco Villa once again hosted a national touring car event after more than two decades. Since the McCormick and Roshfrans Cups in the early 2000s, no event of this caliber had been held at the circuit. The return was made possible thanks to efforts to revitalize the track and overcome organizational challenges, resulting in a successful event that left fans satisfied and eager for the next edition.

Pony Category: From Dirt to Pavement

In the Pony category, participants will be local drivers who usually race on dirt tracks at Aquiles Speedway Park and Los Nogales Dirt Track. This time, they will make the transition to the pavement circuit of the Autódromo Francisco Villa, which presents an interesting challenge. Around 40 cars are expected to compete in this category alone.

Local Participation in Súper Turismos

In the Súper Turismos category, there will also be a strong presence of local cars and competitors from the La Laguna region, ensuring a highly contested race.

Tractocamiones: Giants of the Road at Full Speed

The tractocamiones, those large machines commonly seen on the highway transporting goods, will be competing at full speed on the track. This category is one of the most impressive, as these vehicles, which weigh several tons, demonstrate surprising agility on the circuit.

Trans-Am: American Muscle on the Track

The Trans-Am category is one of the most classic, featuring American cars such as local Vipers. Last year, one of these Vipers set the lap record at the Autódromo Francisco Villa, and this edition is expected to offer another spectacular performance.

Exotics: Street Supercars in Competition

The Exotics category will feature street supercars such as Porsche, Lamborghini, and Ferrari competing on the track. These cars, known for their power and elegant design, will bring the thrill of the streets to the track, offering a visual and competitive spectacle.

GTM: The Star Category of the Súper Copa Roshfrans

The GTM category is the star of the Súper Copa Roshfrans, bringing together some of the best drivers and cars in the country. This category is undoubtedly the most anticipated, as it combines speed, technology, and skill at the highest level.

Expectations for Attendees and Race Details

This year, the action promises to be intense. The event will feature six categories, including GTM and tractocamiones, which are sure to capture the attention of attendees. The races are scheduled to start at 10:00 AM, with the expectation of a large number of spectators, similar to last season.

Among the drivers to watch in this session is Emiliano Richards, who recently secured a victory at the Autódromo de León. Other competitors looking to strengthen their championship positions include Rubén Rovelo, who won the second race of GTM Pro1 in León, and Gerónimo de Yturbe, who dominated the GTM Light category. In the Tractocamiones category, all eyes will be on María José Rodríguez, who secured her first win in León and is looking to maintain that momentum.

Tickets for the event are now available online here. Prices range from $200 for children to $650 in the pit area. Attendees can enjoy the event with free entry for food and beverages in the general area, allowing for a comfortable and accessible experience for all.
