Ty Majeski secured his second consecutive victory in the regular season of the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series, taking the checkered flag at the Clean Harbors 250 at Richmond Raceway. Majeski, driving the No. 98 ThorSport Racing Ford, edged out Christian Eckes by a narrow 0.936 seconds, avenging the painful defeat from last year at the same track.
Despite facing a penalty for a loose tire during his first pit stop, Majeski managed to recover in the final stages of the race. "We’ve complicated things for ourselves in Richmond for two consecutive years, but we finally got the win," Majeski commented, now boasting five career victories.
Meanwhile, Christian Eckes, driver of the No. 19 McAnally-Hilgemann Racing Chevrolet, clinched the regular season championship after winning the first stage of the race, his eighth stage victory of the year. "We’re in a better position than last year, and that gives us confidence heading into the Playoffs," Eckes stated.
Daniel Dye qualifies for the Playoffs
In an unprecedented event in the modern Playoff format, Daniel Dye, driving the No. 43 McAnally-Hilgemann Racing Chevrolet, secured his spot in the postseason by finishing eighth, surpassing Tanner Gray by 12 points in the final cutoff race.
Gray, visibly frustrated, expressed his disappointment with the team’s performance and his own efforts, while his younger brother, Taylor Gray, finished third in the race, securing his qualification for the Playoffs in his first full-time season.
The race concluded with Grant Enfinger leading the most laps and winning the second stage, but falling short of the podium in fourth place. Layne Riggs completed the top five, while defending champion Ben Rhodes and other title contenders such as Corey Heim and Ty Dillon also finished in the top 10.
The Playoffs are set to begin on August 25 at the Milwaukee Mile Speedway, with Corey Heim leading the points standings, followed closely by Eckes and Majeski.
Majeski's victory in Richmond places him in a strong position for the Playoffs, where he will compete alongside drivers like Eckes and Heim, who have shown a high level of performance throughout the season. With the pressure of the postseason mounting, it will be interesting to see how the upcoming races unfold, especially at familiar tracks like Milwaukee, where Majeski and his team feel particularly comfortable.
