Irwin Vences claimed victory in the eighth round of the NASCAR Mexico Series, held at the Ecocentro oval in Querétaro. With this win, Vences not only achieved his first victory of the season but also secured his spot in the playoffs, a crucial goal at this stage of the championship.
The race, scheduled for 140 laps, was interrupted by rain, leading the organizers to end it after the 100-minute regulation time had elapsed. Vences, who led most of the event, took advantage of his position to stay ahead as the weather began to deteriorate. "The team did an excellent job, they gave me a competitive car, and I managed to keep it in the lead," Vences commented at the end of the race.
Performance of Alex de Alba and Max Gutiérrez
Second place went to Alex de Alba, from AGA Racing Team, who expressed his satisfaction with the podium finish, though with a bittersweet taste due to the race's early conclusion. "I was sure I could fight for the victory, but the conditions and timing worked against us," said De Alba.
Meanwhile, Max Gutiérrez, from Prime Sports, completed the podium in third place, earning valuable points that bring him closer to the playoffs. "Today was an important day; the points we earned put us in a good position for the rest of the season," Gutiérrez stated.
