On Saturday, August 3, 2024, the fourth round of the Los Nogales Dirt Series Championship took place at Los Nogales Dirt Track, Delicias, Chihuahua. This could be the last night race of the year, according to the championship calendar, with only two daytime events remaining.
The day was marked by a challenging track due to the presence of potholes, which generated comments among drivers and spectators. In the Pony Novatos category, due to high participation, drivers were divided into two preliminary heats before disputing the final.
Novatos V8 Category
Iván Moreno (444) took advantage of his starting position and led most of the race, closely followed by Iván Armendáriz (11) and Javier Ávila (A81). Jorge Elías (J24) and Ávila engaged in a battle for third place, where Elías won the duel. Later, Armendáriz caught up with Moreno and, after a series of maneuvers, overtook him in the final moments of the race.
Estándar V8 Category
Gustavo Pérez (18), who started in the first position, secured the lead during the first laps, closely followed by Iván Carrasco (78P), Filiberto Guerra (F21), and Fernando Tapia (21). In a second restart, Tapia and Carrasco had contact without major consequences. Pérez managed to pull away at the front but was caught and overtaken by Tapia and Guerra in the final laps, relegating him to third position.
Pony Expertos Category
In the absence of driver Manuel Pérez, Antonio Mata (M18) comfortably led most of the race, followed by Iram Ruiz (0) and Diego Acosta (35). Ruiz and Acosta tried to close the gap but could not catch Mata.
Pony Novatos Category
The Pony Novatos race was contested after two preliminary heats. Alfredo Jiménez (48) showed outstanding performance, maintaining his position until the end. Efrén Soto (76) and César Martínez (91) also had solid races, securing the top podium spots.
Pony Femenil Category
The Pony Femenil race started at a slow pace with several retirements. In the final laps, Ivonne Salazar (Z27) managed to climb from the back of the grid, passing Michelle Ruiz (0) and Jessica Martínez (JE9) in the last two corners to win the race.
Modified Category
Oswaldo Fierro (7) moved from fourth to first in the first lap, closely followed by Enrique Saldívar (22). Fierro retired due to car problems, giving the lead to Saldívar. The battle for second place was between Aarón Córdoba (7) and Esteban Chávez (09), but Córdoba also retired due to a puncture, leaving third place to José Durán (27). Only three cars crossed the finish line due to retirements.
Libre Category
Gustavo Pérez (3) led the first laps, but a save from a spin in the slow part of the track cost him the first position. Aarón Córdoba (7) and Gerardo Balderrama (72B) fought for the lead. Córdoba redeemed himself from the previous race and defended his position, leaving Balderrama in second place. Pérez completed the podium. Unlike the previous race, where Córdoba fought for every gap on the track without being able to reach first place, this time he successfully defended it.
The next round of the championship is scheduled for Sunday, September 15.
