In 2025, Cadillac Racing will expand its presence in the Hypercar class of the FIA World Endurance Championship, partnering with Hertz Team JOTA to form the Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA. Hertz Team JOTA, based in the United Kingdom and backed by the car rental company Hertz, has been competing in the Hypercar category since 2023 with two Porsche 963s.
This team has achieved significant victories, including a notable performance at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and a second-place finish in the season-opening race in Qatar.
John Roth, Global Vice President of Cadillac, stated: "We are very pleased to compete at the highest level in the WEC, and the inclusion of Hertz Team JOTA is an exciting step. We will combine our extensive racing experience to continue achieving success and expanding our global influence."
Sam Hignett, Director and Founder of Hertz Team JOTA, said: "Becoming a factory team has always been our goal, and collaborating with Cadillac fulfills this dream. Competing against the Cadillac V-Series.R has shown us its potential, and we are honored to represent their cars starting in 2025."
Trajectory and Future
Hertz Team JOTA has been a consistent contender in the LMP2 category, securing 10 podiums at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The switch from Cadillac to JOTA, anticipated for some time, was made official following Ganassi's announcement to end its relationship with Cadillac in the WEC and IMSA SportsCar Championship in 2025. The partnership was finalized between the opening race of the 2024 season in Qatar and JOTA's victory at Spa in May.
Hignett mentioned that testing with the V-Series.R will not begin until after the eight-hour race in Bahrain. "It is crucial to properly conclude our current program before starting the new one," Hignett said. "We are facing a very intense off-season."
Additionally, it has been confirmed that Knighthead Capital Management, the group that rescued Hertz in 2021, has become a shareholder in JOTA.
Cadillac's plans for IMSA have not yet been announced and will be revealed later. Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti will return to Cadillac after four years with Acura, managing two cars in the North American series next year.
