The World Rally Championship has revealed an expanded calendar for the 2025 season, including new stops in Spain, Paraguay, and Saudi Arabia, totaling 14 rounds. This is the largest calendar since 2008, covering events in Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America, concluding in Saudi Arabia in November.
The year will begin with Rallye Monte-Carlo at the end of January, followed by Rally Sweden in February and Safari Rally Kenya in March. Spain will return to the calendar in April with Rally Islas Canarias, after a two-year absence. This event, known for its smooth asphalt surfaces and the risk of fog, will present a unique challenge for drivers.
In May, the Vodafone Rally de Portugal will be next, followed in June by Rally Italia Sardegna and EKO Acropolis Rally Greece. Estonia returns to the calendar in July after a one-year absence, continuing with Rally Finland at the end of the same month.
August will mark Paraguay's debut in the WRC, with the rally held on red gravel roads near the Paraná River. Two weeks later, the championship will move to Chile. October will bring the Central European Rally, with asphalt stages in Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic. Japan will host the penultimate round in November, before the season concludes in Saudi Arabia, where each day will feature different terrain.
The 2025 calendar also highlights the absence of some classic rallies. Croatia, which has been part of the WRC in recent years, did not secure a new deal and will be absent in 2025. Other traditional events such as Rally Mexico, Rally Argentina, and Rally Great Britain are also missing from this year's schedule.
The 2025 WRC calendar offers a combination of traditional and new events, showcasing the global diversity of the championship. With a total of 14 rounds, rally fans can expect a varied and exciting season, though with the absence of some historic rallies.
