The Gran Premio Transmisiones Mayelo took place last Saturday, July 20th at the Aquiles Speedway Park, a night filled with adrenaline on the fifth date of the Haciendo Historia Championship. From novices to experts, each category provided memorable moments with several surprises and intense disputes on the track.
Novatos V8
The Novatos V8 category opened the event with Diego Acosta (623) leading from the first lap. Giancarlo Muñoz (93R) had an unfortunate start, crashing on the first turn and withdrawing from the race. Another incident on the third lap took Agustín Chavira Jr. (10) out of the race as he was making his way up the field. While Acosta broke away at the front, the battle for second place between Diego Perales (24P) and Mario Carrasco (68) allowed Edgar Herrera (H88) to catch up and secure second place. Iván Moreno (444) surpassed Perales to take third place.
Pony Expertos
In the Pony Expertos category, Manuel Pérez Jr. (13) took the lead from pole position and maintained it throughout the race. Jovan Alvarado Jr. (99), who had pressured Pérez Jr. in the early laps, lost control in turn 3, dropping out of the fight for first place. The second position was fiercely contested between Diego Martínez (47) and Jorge Macías (54), with Macías taking the spot after a restart. The race concluded with Manuel Pérez Jr. achieving a "grand slam" by starting on pole, leading all laps, and setting the fastest time.
Expertos V8
The Expertos V8 category saw Xavier Guerrero (44) leading most of the race, fending off attacks from Fernando Tapia (21). A yellow flag restart caused by contact between Gustavo Pérez (18) and Enrique Saldivar (22) allowed Tapia to overtake Guerrero. A second restart left Guerrero out of the competition due to a small fire in his car. The third and final restart ended with a major accident involving Francisco Loya (19), Arturo Palos (47), Xavier Guerrero, and Enrique Aguirre (1), all escaping unhurt but with material damage. The victory went to Fernando Tapia, followed by Filiberto Guerra (F21) and Gustavo Pérez.
During the yellow flag after the final restart accident, a reckless act occurred when two team members of those involved invaded the track while cars were still running. This action endangered both themselves and the drivers. Severe penalties are expected for those involved. We strongly urge fans and team members not to commit such recklessness and to strictly respect the ban on entering the track under any circumstances.
Modificada
The Modificada category witnessed an intense battle between Aarón Córdoba (07) and Humberto Pérez (8). Córdoba briefly took the lead, but Pérez caught up and regained first place. Córdoba fell behind and could not fight for the lead again, settling for second place. Esteban Chávez (09) completed the podium.
Libre
The Libre category race began with an accident involving Keko Pérez (9), Óscar Reynosa (43), and Aarón Córdoba (7), with Córdoba being the most affected and withdrawing from the competition. Gerardo Balderrama (72B) took the lead from the start, with Keko Pérez trying to catch him without success. Gustavo Pérez (G3) registered the fastest times at one point but could not surpass Keko Pérez, finishing in third place.
Pony Novatos
The Pony Novatos category had the most crowded grid with 25 cars. Jaime Carbajal (113) led the first laps but yielded to the pressure from Erick Carrasco (D29), who took the lead. Carbajal withdrew on lap 10, leaving Alejandro Ruíz (42) in second place. Ruíz tried to surpass Carrasco but could not, finishing in second place. Gustavo Romero (5), despite a hit on the side of his car, managed to maintain third place.
Vintage
The final race of the night was for the Vintage category, where Jonathán Sigala (04) took the victory. Orlando García (23) secured second place and Cristian López (26) completed the podium. The race unfolded without major incidents, closing an intense night at the Aquiles Speedway Park.
