The Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH has begun its track testing program. This hypercar will be the first to compete simultaneously in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
The Valkyrie AMR-LMH, developed by Aston Martin Performance Technologies along with The Heart of Racing, recently completed its initial tests in the UK. Drivers Darren Turner, Mario Farnbacher, and Harry Tincknell evaluated the car during these early phases.
The preliminary program included a shakedown and initial tests before moving on to a more extensive preparation. The goal is to achieve FIA homologation in autumn and debut in 2025. This car is the only hypercar based on a production model, the Aston Martin Valkyrie, known for its high performance.
Adam Carter, head of Endurance Motorsport at Aston Martin, expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the Valkyrie AMR-LMH, highlighting its potential and meeting established goals.
The carbon fiber chassis of the Valkyrie AMR-LMH houses a 6.5-liter V12 engine, built by Cosworth, adapted to meet the Hypercar class requirements and the demands of long-distance racing.
The Heart of Racing team has established a headquarters in the UK to oversee the development of the car and plans to move to European circuits during the summer to continue performance evaluations.
Ian James, director of The Heart of Racing team, commented on the importance of these initial tests and the challenge of competing at the highest level of endurance racing.
In addition to its participation in the WEC, Aston Martin with The Heart of Racing also plans an IMSA program, competing in the GTP class from its headquarters in Phoenix, USA.
