Pato O'Ward from Arrow McLaren took the victory at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, beating Alex Palou from Chip Ganassi Racing in a close competition. O'Ward managed to recover from an initial deficit to lead the final laps and secure his second win of the season.
The race started with a yellow flag due to an electrical problem in Scott Dixon's car from Chip Ganassi Racing, which delayed the start. Palou took the lead when the green flag waved on the third lap, opening an early gap with his competitors.
Josef Newgarden, who started from the 17th position, made an early pit stop, opting for a three-stop strategy that kept him out of the fight for the lead. Meanwhile, Palou maintained a strong pace, extending his lead to 5.5 seconds over O'Ward by lap 18.
O'Ward began to close the gap and after a series of pit stops, took the lead. A slow second pit stop cost Palou valuable time, allowing O'Ward to gain position. In the final laps, Palou closed in again but couldn't surpass O'Ward, who maintained the lead until the end.
Scott McLaughlin completed the podium in third position, followed by Colton Herta and Marcus Ericsson. Despite returning to the track after his initial problem, Dixon finished far from the leaders.
