Sebastien Ogier will not participate in the Rally of Poland this week after an accident during reconnaissance. Ogier and his co-driver Vincent Landais suffered a crash that left them without serious injuries but forced them to withdraw from the event.
Ogier and Landais were preparing their rally notes. During the reconnaissance, their GR Yaris car collided with another vehicle, resulting in the hospitalization of the occupants of both cars. Although the injuries were not severe, Ogier and Landais will not compete in the seventh round of the WRC season.
Toyota confirmed that all those involved in the accident were medically examined and, while Landais was discharged, Ogier will remain under medical observation. Toyota is also considering its options to replace Ogier in the event and will provide updates shortly.
This incident occurs at an important time for Ogier, who has had a solid performance in his partial WRC campaign this year, with wins in Croatia and Portugal. Toyota decided that Ogier would participate in the Rally of Latvia instead of driver Sami Pajari, who will make his Rally1 debut in Finland.
Pajari and his co-driver Enni Malkonen, who were originally going to compete in Latvia, will now make their debut in Finland, a more familiar terrain for them. This decision was made to provide Pajari with the best possible conditions for his debut.
