The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT is the new safety car for Formula E. The model will be unveiled at the double header in Berlin on May 11 and 12. This is Porsche's most powerful production car and will replace the Turbo S, which has played the role of safety car since 2019. Two variants will be offered, one active and one backup, with different features and colors.

Porsche Motorsport Vice President Thomas Laudenbach noted that sustainability and electrification are important aspects for Porsche, as reflected in their involvement in motorsport, including using the Taycan Turbo GT as a safety car. According to Laudenbach, the Taycan benefits from the brand's experience in energy management, highlighting that the model has improved in several areas.

The Taycan Turbo GT has more power, range, and charging speed, along with greater stability. This model, the most advanced in the range, has set lap records at Nürburgring and Laguna Seca, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.2 seconds, reaching a top speed of 305 km/h. The model features an "Attack Mode," which offers temporary boosts of up to 163 HP (120 kW) of additional power, based on the technology of the Porsche 99X Electric.

For the first time, there will be two versions of the electric safety car in Formula E. The Taycan Turbo GT will be available in an exclusive metallic purple color with the Weissach package and without rear seats. The second vehicle will be painted in metallic green and will be a four-seater. Both models were developed at Porsche's facilities in Weissach, with carbon-neutral emissions. Porsche specialists in Manthey handled the necessary modifications, such as warning lights and communication equipment.

Portuguese driver Bruno Correia will remain at the wheel of the safety car. In this Formula E season, Porsche participates with the official TAG Heuer Porsche team and with the American Andretti Formula E team, both competing with the Porsche 99X Electric. Porsche's participation in the championship highlights its commitment to electrification, sustainability, and technology.
