El piloto de Qatar, Nasser Al-Attiyah, obtuvo la victoria en la primera etapa del Rally Sonora, al llevar su Toyota #201 a la posición líder con un tiempo de 1 hora, 32 minutos y 6 segundos, tras completar los 170 kilómetros de tramos cronometrados.
Yazeed Al Rajhi, piloto de origen árabe, quien ganó el prólogo el dia anterior, alcanzó la segunda posición en la etapa, a 27 segundos del vencedor del Rally Dakar 2023. Guerlain Chicherit, conductor francés del equipo Prodrive, llegó en tercer lugar con una diferencia de 49 segundos. Sébastien Loeb, líder del campeonato W2RC, ocupó la cuarta posición, a más de dos minutos del ganador. El piloto argentino Halpern cerró el top cinco, con una diferencia de 03m33s.
"Al ser los primeros en abrir la ruta, sabíamos que no sería fácil, ya que había muchos caminos estrechos que requerían recortar arbustos con el lateral del coche. Perdimos algo de tiempo, pero en general, quedar cuartos en la etapa está bien; no está mal en absoluto. Esta es una nueva aventura para todos nosotros, así que no tener problemas es genial"

Tosha Schareina obtuvo la victoria en la primera etapa del Rally Sonora, finalizando la especial de 170 kilómetros en 1 hora, 33 minutos y 25 segundos, con una ventaja de 0.06 segundos sobre Daniel Sanders. La tercera posición fue ocupada por el piloto chileno Pablo Quintanilla, quien llegó a 41 segundos del líder del día.
El piloto argentino Luciano Benavides se ubicó en el octavo puesto, mientras que su hermano Kevin Benavides llegó en undécimo lugar. Ignacio Cornejo finalizó en la posición número 16.
"Hoy ha sido el primer día de carrera de verdad, porque el prólogo era muy corto. Al principio me lo he tomado con calma porque no sabía cómo me sentiría, pero por suerte no he tenido dolores ni nada parecido, así que he podido rodar a buena velocidad", dijo Kevin Benavides."
El día martes, la etapa contará con una conexión de 255 kilómetros y una sección cronometrada de 286 kilómetros.
