Sébastien Loeb won the second stage of the Sonora Rally, beating Qatari driver Nasser Al-Attiyah by a margin of 2 minutes and 45 seconds. The stage covered a distance of 162 kilometers between Hermosillo and Peñasco. The Prodrive team performed well, with four of their drivers finishing in the top five, while the Toyota drivers were relegated to positions from seventh place onwards. Marcos Baumgart, Christian Baumgart, and Guerlain Chicherit also had a good race, finishing in the top five.
Thanks to his victory, Sébastien Loeb has taken the lead in the overall standings of the Sonora Rally with a total time of 3 hours, 3 minutes, and 16 seconds, giving him a 0.03-second advantage over Al-Attiyah. Guerlain Chicherit is in third place in the overall standings.
In the two-wheel category, Daniel Sanders from Australia took his GasGas motorcycle to the top of the times, recording 1 hour, 28 minutes, and 8 seconds, winning by a margin of 1 minute and 5 seconds over Schareina, who had won the first stage on Monday. Ricky Brabec secured third place with his Honda, closely followed by Toby Price.
Pablo Quintanilla from Chile finished in sixth place, ahead of brothers Kevin and Luciano Benavides. In the overall standings, there was a significant change with Daniel Sanders taking the lead with a 21-second advantage over Schareina. The best Latin American rider in the overall standings is Quintanilla, who is in fourth place, 4 minutes and 56 seconds behind the leader. Luciano Benavides is in fifth place in the overall standings.
Kevin Benavides managed to enter the top 10 in the standings, with a difference of 9 minutes and 44 seconds from Sanders' mark. The third stage of the Sonora Rally will be the longest of the competition, with 350 kilometers of special, and will take place in a loop stage in Puerto Peñasco.
